Can Thai massage help with chronic back pain?

Chronic back pain can be caused by many different factors. If your pain isn't due to an underlying medical condition, then it most likely is due to an imbalance in the muscles. If it's muscle related, Thai massage can help!

What causes back pain?

Dysfunction or weakness in the body's tissues can cause an array of issues. From my experience, low back pain can be caused due to weakness in the core and hip muscles. When the core and hip muscles are weak, your low back has to work overtime to keep your spine erect. As for mid-back to upper back pain, this is usually caused due to tightness in the chest and weakness in the muscles that encompass the area that is in pain. Which in turn, makes the back muscles overwork to keep your posture balanced.

How can Thai massage help?

Thai massage utilizes compression and passive stretching to increase range of motion and flexibility in the joints. There are techniques specifically used to open up the muscle group to align the body back to its correct posture. This type of unwinding relieves pain and puts you on the right track to strengthen those muscle groups. Thai massage is an awesome form of pain relief and preventative maintenance, however, it is up to the client to take the steps to improving the body on a day to day basis.
